This fall I will be training current 4 th graders as well as any older students who are interested in
the ministry of altar servers for weekday, weekend, and Friday School Masses.
During this training not only are the children going to learn how to be an altar server, but they
also learn the proper or formal names of the items used in the sanctuary and sacristy of the
church.
The training sessions are offered after the 10:30am Sunday Mass on the following dates
September 15, September 22, September 29, October 13, October 20, October 27, November 3,
and November 10. Minimum of 7 sessions must be completed.
Your child must be a baptized Catholic who has received the sacraments of First Reconciliation
and Eucharist in order to serve Mass. Please mark your choice below of availability to serve and
return this form by September 11, 2024 to the school office.

Once the sessions have been completed, your child will be added to the Altar Server Schedule
and will be assigned along with an older server unless the child has an older sibling who has
been trained. The expectation is that servers arrive at least 15 minutes prior to Mass, or Father
will find a substitute. Katie Bernards [email protected] in the St. Francis of Assisi school
office handles the scheduling. Please contact her if your schedule changes and you need to
change your child’s availability.
Finally, SAVE THE DATE, Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the 10:30am all new altar servers
will be commissioned and receive their personalized cross.
